Necessary Forum Expansion

Honestly, the old forums were great because it had what it did. The drama board served as a proper containment for retardation and when used properly, could actually be used to address certain things that would never surface had there not been a proper board for it.
We all know what incident I'm referring to when I say this.

A drama board is a headache but I'd also hate to be in a place where that situation could have not been exposed. There were a few other relatively minor minor situations also exposed in the drama board.

The problem with Blockland discords is that there's so many of them so it's impossible to centralize community discussion in real-time. There's like 28 of them and they're never really that active, it's not like the Glass Live where you could talk to everyone online in the IRC, invite people to servers, PM people, etc. The most prominent discords also have powertripping discord mods which causes extreme community division.

I think we're in a "post-IRC" (or Glass Live) situation with Blockland for now unless we had tons more players. The least we can offer is a neutral place for sharing information where you aren't cut off from reading information because you broke some stupid rule (Discord "servers") and you're not cut off from participating because of something you did over 10 years ago (BLF).

Plus on a proper web-present forum there are plenty of automatic mechanisms (search engines, Internet Archive/Wayback Machine, some of my own tools I'm working on) that can actually give content a much longer lifetime. Discord has broken how the internet and web used to work. Blockland's history will have a giant hole between 2019 and 2025.

Just look at Brickadia: it has a near-zero web presence like it doesn't exist. It will be forgotten.

This forum should be kept to the technical Blockland stuff (modding, servers, archival, etc.) but there also shouldf be a more streamlined addon system (addon managers like RTB/Glass containing the ability to download directly in-game) if at all possible. Drama needs its own containment area, same for community events, and there should be an on-the-fly way to talk to people online and in-game without being in the same server. People fail to realize how useful BLG used to be lmao.

I think that era is also gone until we get a true replacement game and rebuild the community.

Talking about other games (except AOT) is always going to stir drama, especially talking about direct competitors. They have their own platforms, don't bring that trash here. While I disagree with blogposting, let ppl do it idgaf, having a true off-topic board is great for threads where you post real-life pictures of yourself and having threads like "(example) IS A forgetting BADMIN AND WE SHOULD CRUCIFY HIM D=<" you don't have to respond to that OP's replybait, simple as.

If we're big enough we would have to worry about that. I don't treat this as a serious problem right now.
