Blockland Abroad
#1
Blockland has quite a few sub-communities, some more active than others, and I figured it'd be nice to list them out here.

The Web
  • Blockland Forums - The official forums.  Unfortunately new accounts cannot be registered, so it consists of Blockheads stuck in purgatory.

Discord
  • BCC - BCC Content Creators, which stands for BCC Content Creators Content Creators, which stands for...  Probably the currently best established community for Blockland related topics, though it's not solely focused on Blockland.
  • Blockland United - Another well populated Discord with a greater focus on Blockland.

Reddit
  • r/Blockland - The official Blockland subreddit, carried entirely on patyos' back.
  • r/BlocklandIsHorrible - A more infamous subreddit.  It's fairly well dead but I've included it if you want a chuckle.  It claims the game was dying 10 years ago.  Any day now...

These are all the general-purpose communities I can think of currently that aren't outright dead.  There are server-specific communities, but I feel those warrant their own threads.

Don't forget:

Steam
  • Blockland's official game "hub" - Every Steam game or product (released or not) has a "hub". Since these are functionally the same as regular Steam groups, there is a member list. It is not clear if purchasers were automatically enrolled in this hub at any point in time. To be visible in this group, you must have "Following" checked (below the video/image header) if you visit Blockland's Store page while logged in. New people don't appear to be automatically added to the hub upon purchase.
  • Blockland's official Steam community page - Includes a discussion board, group chat and some other things. Membership in the hub through the "Follow" button appears optional in order to use these features.
  • "Blocklanders" Steam group - unofficial 3,600 member group active since 2007

Of note is that both of these (and the official Steam discussion board) are controlled and moderated by the game's developer(s).

This is actually a really disturbing trend though it's obvious why a Steam product's official board is controlled by the game's owners. I'm bringing this up again because I saw someone talking about another game with a subreddit controlled by the game's owners so they couldn't be criticized. Unfortunately I can't remember the game or context. Developers could turn their games into malware and nobody could say a word where it matters.
